Party favors are extremely popular at special events. By giving out a party favor to each guest, the host is showing their appreciation for attending. There are many considerations when it comes to selecting and providing party favors. For anyone on a low budget, they don’t need to cost a lot and can provide the perfect memory of your special event.

Party Favor Considerations

  • Edible versus Non-Edible. A very popular type of party favor is edible food. These can consist of nicely decorated candy, local artisanal food, or even oils and spices. It’s best if the edible favor is non-perishable – at least for several days. Non-edible favors, on the other hand, can include any object that you feel is appropriate. This might consist of linen, a gift bag full of goodies or even a humorous object.
  • Theme-Based. Many parties are theme-based. For example, some people throw parties that are beach-themed, centered on cartoon characters, or even their favorite sporting team. In such instances, a party favor that fits in with the theme is appropriate. A beach-themed party favor might include a beach towel and a pack of sunscreen.
  • Personalized. Guests love nothing more than when the host has given some thought to the party favor. By customizing the party favor, it will make your guest feel all the more important. Personalized party favors can take many forms. You might bake some cookies with the guest’s name written in icing. It could involve a beach towel with the guest’s name appliquéd on it.
  • DIY or Store Bought. Due to their popularity, there are many stores that sell party favors. For that more personal touch, you might decide to go DIY. This decision will be based upon the amount of time you have to prepare the favors, the number of guests, and how much your budget is. Store bought party favors are ideal for those with time constraints. If chosen correctly, they can say “special” as much as a DIY party favor.
