The Charity Dinner Was an Outstanding Success!

Friday, March 12th, 2010

On Tuesday March, 9th the Red Sky Café hosted a charity dinner to benefit a group of Christian Youth Missionaries. The youth group is heading to South America to educate and assist the poor people of Guyana.

In an amazing show of support to the young missionaries, the wonderful staff of the Red Sky Café worked completely for free so there would be no payroll for the event. Also, the Outer Banks Seafood Company very generously payed for all the food costs. These two charitable acts ensured that all proceeds would go straight to the Christian Youth Missionaries.

However, the most amazing act of generosity came from all the people who ordered dinner for the event. It was estimated that about 200 people would order dinner that night. In reality, over 300 dinners were prepared by Chef Wess and his staff. The huge turnout in support of this cause was able to raise nearly $5,000 dollars!

We would like to thank Chef Wes and the Staff at the Red Sky Café, and Outer banks Seafood Co. However, the biggest thanks have to go to everyone who ordered dinner that night. Your support was overwhelming.

Our thoughts and prayers will go with the Christian Youth Missionaries as they go to help those in need. Good luck to you, and be safe.

The Dinner

Your entire dinner will cost $15 per person.

Diners get a choice of Beef, Chicken, or Seafood. Beef will be served with Mashed Red Potatoes, and Chicken and Seafood with the Red Sky’s famous Redneck Risotto (Asiago Cheese Grits). All dishes are served with a selection of seasonal vegetables and a large drink.

Orders are available for takeout as well as in the restaurant. All proceeds go to the Mission fund.

The Mission

Guyana suffers substantially from institutional weakness and low capacity in gathering, collecting and aggregating social sector data. As a result, local government encounters serious challenges in measuring poverty data, which hinders their ability to target where to allocate the few resources available.

The Guyana government is still fundamentally unstable and lacks the resources to address most of what the country needs.
Our missionaries are going there to help educate the population and sincerely appreciate your help.
Come on over, enjoy Chef Wes’ delicious food, and help out on a great cause.
